JENNIFER SHAW | B.A. Psychology, UC Santa Cruz
Jennifer Shaw is a language arts enrichment tutor with a passion for poetry. She is a longtime substitute teacher in the area, working primarily with elementary school age children — and loves to witness those light bulb moments when students make those meaningful connections. A favorite memory of working with students is when she taught a fifth-grade class for 10 weeks while their teacher was on maternity leave. Students respond to Jennifer’s enthusiasm for learning. She has been trained extensively by the Institute for Reading Development for which she taught literacy to entering kindergartners up to adults. She is a longtime writer — a former reporter and editor for the Contra Costa Sun in Lafayette — and is adept in all curricular areas of elementary school instruction. Jennifer is a Martinez resident, sharing her sanctuary with her two teenage sons, a Golden Retriever, Bosley, and two sister cats, Domino and Oreo.
TRACY SKINNER | B.A. American Studies, UC Davis
Tracy Skinner graduated from UC Davis, earned her credential at Sacramento State, and has a GATE (gifted and talented education) certificate from San Diego State Extension. Tracy taught at North Davis Elementary, in Davis, from 1996 – 2018. After leaving the classroom and moving out of Davis, Tracy enjoyed working as (1) a history presenter to 4th – 6th graders and (2) a Studies Weekly curriculum trainer for teachers – until the shelter-in-place orders started. Former students and parents fondly mention Tracy’s sense of humor, fun-loving personality and her “whole child” approach to teaching. At home, Tracy enjoys cuddling with her two pups, Sadie Sue (Great Dane) and Cantina (black Lab who is a career change from Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael).
DENISE REINSCH | B.A. Kinesiology, San Diego State University; M.A. Educational Administration, Concordia University; M.S. Education/Reading, Cal State East Bay
Ms. Reinsch has over 10 years of experience working with students ages Pre-K to 8th grade. Currently she is employed as a Middle School Core Teacher, with disciplines in English, World History, Reading, Reading Intervention, and Academic Language Development.
She believes strongly in the power of education to enhance the lives of individuals and society, and she works hard to instill this belief in her students.
Ultimately, her goal is to help students achieve the academic standards and essential life skills needed to be successful global citizens, as well as college and career ready, through effective instruction that encourages active learning, participation, and student engagement. When she is not teaching, Ms. Reinsch enjoys spending time with her children and pet cats. She is also an avid reader, and she enjoys walking on her beloved trails in the Summit Ridge area.
JOSEPH VARNI | B.A. Business Administration, Whittier College
Joe Varni has a Bachelor’s degree from Whittier College and over ten years of childcare experience – the last six being in education. Joe has had the opportunity to work with thousands of students and campers throughout his time in outdoor environmental education, at CYO Camp, and classroom education. For the last 2 years, Joe taught Junior High Science at St. Perpetua School. His main goal is to make learning fun! He enjoys the challenge of finding ways to keep students engaged and excited about learning. He is energetic and enthusiastic, and has a huge passion for gardening and tacos! Ask him more about it!
CLOVELLE MANGLICMOT | B.A. Human Development, Cal State East Bay
Clovelle Manglicmot has been in the Early Childhood Field for 6 years along with an A.A. in Early Childhood. She is a CSUEB graduate with a B.A. in Human Development and is currently a High School Coordinator for an After School Program. Within those 6 years in the ECE field, she has worked as a Child Care Assistant, Substitute Teacher (Infant-PreK) and worked her way up as head Pre-K teacher at CLIF Bar’s onsite Children’s Center. During her time working on her BA, she interned at the YMCA assisting High School students and also for Reading Partners, working one-on-one with Elementary Students. In her free time, she enjoys doing puzzles and going on bike rides with her two nephews. She is very organized and loves collecting stationery supplies. She loves working with children because she gets to experience the uniqueness of each child. It makes her feel she’s doing something worthwhile with her life, knowing she’s helping and making a change in someone else’s life.
CAROLYN MARTIN | B.A. Political Science, UC Davis; M.A. English Literature, San Francisco State University
Carolyn was born in Ohio and moved to Moraga when she was eleven. She attended Joaquin Moraga Intermediate and Campolindo High School, so she is a local! She received her BA from UC Davis and MA in English Literature from SFSU. For over 20 years, she has tutored kids in reading and writing and has taught at many of the local community colleges including Diablo Valley College where she is still a lecturer in the English Department. She loves teaching kids and her goal is to inspire them to love learning and to become confident learners so that they can reach their full potential. She is married with two kids, one at Acalanes HS and one at UCLA. Fun fact: she has an adorable miniature Aussie who makes HER fetch the ball!
LORI SACCO | B.A. Language & Communications, State University of New York
Lori raised her children in Danville, California, where they attended public school and where she actively participated in their learning process whether coaching, tutoring, and/or supervising school trips and projects. Currently, she enjoys each and every chance to spend time with her grandchildren and engage them in learning opportunities. Lori Sacco is an accomplished sales professional with 15+ years of innovative managerial experience; serving a national customer-base and consulting with them to reach to successful outcomes through end-to-end project support – from market assessment, through strategy development, to final project evaluation reporting. Lori thrives in environments of change and transition with the ability to galvanize team members, customers and their local communities! Lori brings her love of children, passion for the learning and development process and her collaborative spirit to Study Studio and looks forward to supporting students to reach their goals in an inclusive and harmonious environment.
