Our Team

JENNIFER SHAW | B.A. Psychology, UC Santa Cruz

Jennifer Shaw is a language arts enrichment tutor with a passion for poetry. She is a longtime substitute teacher in the area, working primarily with elementary school age children — and loves to witness those light bulb moments when students make those meaningful connections. A favorite memory of working with students is when she taught a fifth-grade class for 10 weeks while their teacher was on maternity leave. Students respond to Jennifer’s enthusiasm for learning. She has been trained extensively by the Institute for Reading Development for which she taught literacy to entering kindergartners up to adults. She is a longtime writer — a former reporter and editor for the Contra Costa Sun in Lafayette — and is adept in all curricular areas of elementary school instruction. Jennifer is a Martinez resident, sharing her sanctuary with her two teenage sons, a Golden Retriever, Bosley, and two sister cats, Domino and Oreo.
